Rounding out my trio of uplifting spa recipes is this skin repair balm. Package it together with the bath soak and body balm for a happy little holiday gift. They look great in 2 ounce round tins with labels. You can find the link for the labels at the end of this post.
If you're not already familiar with my happy essential oil blend, well here it is. Rosemary, peppermint and lemon make me smile. I think you'll find it cheery, too.
So what makes this recipe great for super dry, rough skin? A blend of shea butter with vitamin E and nourishing avocado oil help moisturize and sooth cuticles, elbows and feet.
And just like the other 2 recipes, this one is quick and easy to make. Melt the shea butter, beeswax and avocado oil in the microwave for about 1 minute. Take out the mixture as soon as it has completely melted. Do not let it boil.
While the mixture is still hot, pour in the essential oil blend and the vitamin E oil.
Stir and quickly pour it into a container. Set aside and let cool completely. Store at room temperature in a tightly sealed container.
The balm is best used within 6 months.
2 tablespoons avocado oil
1 tablespoon grated beeswax
1 tablespoon shea butter
3 drops vitamin E oil
3 drops lemon essential oil
2 drops each rosemary essential oil and peppermint essential oil
In a glass microwave-safe bowl, combine avocado oil, beeswax and shea butter. Microwave for about 1 minute until completely melted. Do not let boil.
While the mixture is liquid, add vitamin E oil and essential oils. Stir.
Quickly pour into a 2 ounce container while hot. Set aside and allow to cool completely. Keep sealed.
