Japanese Glass Fishing Floats

I've never had any luck finding these fishing floats at the beach and it's not likely that I will since  they are no longer used (they're made out of plastic these days). I can't even find them at the flea markets or antiques shops.

Lucky for me there's the internet. If you are in Japan you can buy these glass floats on Coastal Room. They sell for ¥750 each (about $8). There's also a link to an Etsy shop that sells them on my Turning Japanese post. My plan is to buy about 5 of these guys and make a pendant light. If that doesn't work, I'll use the top photo as my guide and just plop them in a glass bowl.

If you're interested in learning more, check out this video of a gentleman at Brimfield Antiques Show talking about the floats.
