New Year's Resolution #1: Get Organized

Happy New Year! Thought I'd start out the year by doing some organizing/decorating. Mainly in the dining room. Here are some inspiring ideas I've been considering for the built-in cabinets. I'll post some pictures of my cabinet progress when I get some more work done.
I'm going to need some plate stands, but that's the kind of thing I hate spending money on. I sense a DIY project on the horizon.

I don't want to go too Country Kitchen, but I love the idea of lining the back of the cabinets with wallpaper or maybe some stenciling. And look at that chicken wire in place of glass. Love that idea for a couple of kitchen cabinets.

It's amazing how a little pattern in the background makes things really stand out.
My other idea is to paint the inside of the cabinets, but do I stick with a neutral grey or go more bold with color?

Besides trying to make good on my resolutions, I have not one, but two birthdays to prepare for this month. Any post-holiday plans on your plate?
