Garden Notes

Growing in our garden now... beautiful cabbage,
 celery ...
some daikon I grew from seeds I got in Japan. Not sure if they'll reach their full size, they look kind of small after about 90 days.
Kohlrabi, something I'd never eaten before this summer. It was pretty good chopped up and sautéd in olive oil.
And some shiso, an herb used in a lot of Japanese cooking. I love the taste so much and can't find it in the U.S., so I brought back seeds from our last trip. I found this tomato, shallot, shiso salad recipe on this really beautiful blog here. And luckily, there's one ripe tomato in the garden, too. Can't wait to try this out.
