Project Quilt

This is the fun part of my new project, picking out the fabric and making a digital pattern. I hope the rest of my first-quilt-ever project goes as smoothly. 

I'm making two (as long as I don't get totally frustrated, curse like a sailor and angrily toss all my cute fabric into the back of the closet) one for each of the girls. 

We ended up going to Ikea over the long weekend and got a matching bed for Isla along with a few other Ikea kid things. Luckily, I stopped short of buying two really cheap duvet covers. Mr T and I were reading their bedtime stories last night and he goes, "I feel like I'm in..." I finished his sentence, "an Ikea photo shoot?" 

Yeah. So I think some homemade (and I guarantee they will look homemade) quilts will add a little personal flair. 

I bought all my fabric from the "Under $6" selection on fabric.com. 1/2/3/4/5/6

This is the video I've been watching and studying closely. 

Now I just have to wait for my fabric to get here and I'm off!

I was just at Ikea this weekend and got a cute Christmas plaid tablecloth! I love it! My husband came home and even said he LOVED it! So far your quilt looks awesome, can't wait to see the finished project. Are you going to totally complete one and then start on the other, or work on both at the same time?

You know you scored when your husband likes a tablecloth. I think I'll do one at a time. Although, now that I think about it, maybe I should do them at the same time. That way I'm more likely to finish both!

And you know how you get better at things after you've tried once? If you do them both at the same time, you won't end up with one looking all rough and crooked and the other one looking perfect. Instead, they'll match, with one end looking uneven and the other end with all straight angles.

That's a good point. I think what scares me most about this project is all the ironing. I hate ironing and I'll have to find time to do this when the girls are sleeping or something because I know they'll be all curious about the rarely seen iron.
