Here's a view from the kitchen.
As charming as that swinging door is, we decided to lose it because of the awkward way it opens up into the fridge cabinet.
See what I mean here?
We figured it would look so much nicer if we opened up the wall as far as we could. I thought we'd never get to this point of hiring a contractor and actually doing this thing. But today the day finally came ... the day the wall opened up!
I wish you could see it in person because the whole dining room and kitchen really opens up and looks so much bigger. This picture doesn't do it justice.
The next step is for the village inspector to approve of the work before the wall gets closed up and the opening gets trim around it.
Then we're ready to move on to tiling the kitchen floor. It took months to decide on a tile (we went with this one). We decided to do the tiling ourselves and let a professional do the upstairs bathroom.
Here's a little peek at what the tile will look like with our cabinets and countertop.
I'll keep you posted with lots of "during" and "after" pictures!
